Pozvánka na podujatie – Vínko naše čachtické

Invitation to the Event – This Čachtice Wine of Ours

This Saturday, both history enthusiasts and lovers of fine wine will find something to enjoy at the Draškovič Manor House in Čachtice.

You’ll have the opportunity not only to learn about the rich history of Slovak viticulture, but also to taste „Bathory’s Blood“, „Elixir of Youth“, „Black Elisabeth“, and other quality wines produced by Čachtické chotáre (Čachtice Vineyards).

All wines from Čachtické chotáre are made right on the site where the original Báthory Manor once stood.

The event “ This Čachtice Wine of Ours“ will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Draškovič Manor House in Čachtice (in the Picture Hall).

Admission and wine tasting are FREE.

Wine tasting is available only to persons aged 18 and over!

The aim of the lecture is to bring closer the history and traditions of viticulture, especially in Slovakia. Our ethnologist and museum educator, Mgr. Filip Obertáš, will answer questions such as: Where does the grapevine originate? Where were the oldest traces of wine production found? Which historical figure was allegedly the first winemaker? What did an Arab traveler say about Great Moravian viticulture? At what age did Báthory’s husband start drinking wine? Which high-ranking Hungarian nobles were known for excessive wine drinking? With whom did Palatine Thurzo get drunk? How was wine used as medicine and as an aphrodisiac? Which Slovak towns were the jewels of viticulture? Which period was the golden age of winemaking? …and many other fascinating facts.

After the lecture, Ing. Miroslav Bitarovský, an employee of Čachtické chotáre, will present contemporary viticulture in Čachtice, accompanied by a guided wine tasting.

The event is part of the project “Revitalization of the Draškovič Manor House in Čachtice”, funded by the EEA and Norway Grants, and co-financed by the State Budget of the Slovak Republic, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region, and the Trenčín Museum.

You are all warmly welcome!
