Fine Čachtice Wine Tasted at Draškovič Manor House

The event “ This Čachtice Wine of Ours” began with a lecture by our museum educator and ethnologist, Mgr. Filip Obertáš, who shared the history of viticulture in Slovakia from ancient times to the 20th century, with a special focus on wine from Čachtice, a favorite of Empress Maria Theresa. He also touched on topics such as alcoholism among the highest Hungarian nobility and the phenomenon of wine as an aphrodisiac.

The current viticulture in Čachtice was presented by sommelier Ing. Miroslav Bitarovský of Čachtické chotáre. Visitors had the opportunity to taste top-quality wines from Čachtické chotáre, including Bathory’s Blood, Bathory’s Secret, Elixir of Youth, and Black Elisabeth.

A big thank you to everyone who attended—you were wonderful! A special thanks goes to Čachtické Chotáre for their excellent collaboration.

The event was held as part of the project “Revitalization of the Draškovič Manor House in Čachtice”, funded by the EEA and Norway Grants and co-financed by the State Budget of the Slovak Republic, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region, and the Trenčín Museum.
