This Saturday, both history enthusiasts and lovers of fine wine will find something to enjoy at the Dra\u0161kovi\u010d Manor House in \u010cachtice.<\/p>

You\u2019ll have the opportunity not only to learn about the rich history of Slovak viticulture, but also to taste \u201eBathory\u2019s Blood\u201c, \u201eElixir of Youth\u201c, \u201eBlack Elisabeth\u201c, and other quality wines produced by \u010cachtick\u00e9 chot\u00e1re (\u010cachtice Vineyards).<\/p>

All wines from \u010cachtick\u00e9 chot\u00e1re are made right on the site where the original B\u00e1thory Manor once stood.<\/p>

The event \u201c This \u010cachtice Wine of Ours\u201c will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Dra\u0161kovi\u010d Manor House in \u010cachtice (in the Picture Hall).<\/p>

Admission and wine tasting are FREE.<\/p>

Wine tasting is available only to persons aged 18 and over!<\/p>

The aim of the lecture is to bring closer the history and traditions of viticulture, especially in Slovakia. Our ethnologist and museum educator, Mgr. Filip Obert\u00e1\u0161, will answer questions such as:\nWhere does the grapevine originate? Where were the oldest traces of wine production found? Which historical figure was allegedly the first winemaker? What did an Arab traveler say about Great Moravian viticulture? At what age did B\u00e1thory\u2019s husband start drinking wine? Which high-ranking Hungarian nobles were known for excessive wine drinking? With whom did Palatine Thurzo get drunk? How was wine used as medicine and as an aphrodisiac? Which Slovak towns were the jewels of viticulture? Which period was the golden age of winemaking? \u2026and many other fascinating facts.<\/p>

After the lecture, Ing. Miroslav Bitarovsk\u00fd, an employee of \u010cachtick\u00e9 chot\u00e1re, will present contemporary viticulture in \u010cachtice, accompanied by a guided wine tasting.<\/p>

The event is part of the project \u201cRevitalization of the Dra\u0161kovi\u010d Manor House in \u010cachtice\u201d, funded by the EEA and Norway Grants, and co-financed by the State Budget of the Slovak Republic, the Tren\u010d\u00edn Self-Governing Region, and the Tren\u010d\u00edn Museum.<\/p>
