Dear friends,

we would like to invite you to a lecture by JUDr. Mgr. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Michal\u00edk, PhD. entitled \"...And so the Village Got Rid of the Last Jew\", which will take place on February 29, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the Local Cultural Center in the town of \u010cachtice.
\u201e...a tak obec sa zbavila aj posledn\u00e9ho \u017dida\", ktor\u00e1 sa uskuto\u010dn\u00ed d\u0148a 29.2.2024 o\u00a017.00 hod. v Miestnom kult\u00farnom stredisku v \u010cachticiach.

The lecture will focus on the fate of Jewish community in \u010cachtice during World War II, mainly in the light of the anti-Jewish legislation of the time. Through an example of a single village, the lecture will demonstrate how \u2013 over the course of just a few years \u2013 the minority citizens were being eliminated; at first in a subtle way and later openly. Most Jewish residents born or living in \u010cachtice in the first decades of the 20th century were murdered in concentration camps.<\/p> <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After the presentation, the lecture will be open to the public. We hope it will be utilized as supplementary material for students in lessons on regional education or civics. While History is the \u201cTeacher of Life,\u201d some of its lessons should never be repeated.

The lecture was prepared and will be presented as part of the project \"Revitalization of the Dra\u0161kovi\u010d Manor House in \u010cachtice\" and draws mainly from archival documents of the State Archive in Tren\u010d\u00edn.<\/a>.
