The Manor House of Dra\u0161kovi\u010d was the last of the manor houses in \u010cachtice and took the\nname according to its builder, land judge, Moson and Orava main district administrator,\nCount Nikola Dra\u0161kovi\u010d. According to the inventories from 1692 and 1711, the land judge\nbuilt the residence from the ground up as a new building in 1677. By marrying the Countess\nBarbora Drugeth, the granddaughter of Elizabeth B\u00e1thory, Nikola inherited shares of the\nmanor. Since he came from Croatia and did not own any other larger castle dominium in\nHungary, he settled in \u010cachtice and members of the Drugeth family allocated him part of the\nmanor and land in the landlord town for the construction of a new settlement. Male\nmembers of the Drugeth family had their own manor house in \u010cachtice and did not have to\nbuild another mansion. Nikola Dra\u0161kovi\u010d built the main core of the manor house, a two-\nstorey south wing, including a basement under the northern overhead tract, with a\ndistinctive medium avant-corps.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After the death of Nikola Dra\u0161kovi\u010d, the object was inherited by his daughter, Countess\nBarbora Dra\u0161kovi\u010d. After her death in 1691, the daughters of Barbora's cousin Zigmund\nDrugeth, Countesses Julianna and Clara Drugeth, inherited the manor house with the\nrespective share. Since they were both girls at the time, the estate of Dra\u0161kovi\u010d was\nmanaged by their mother and Zigmund's widow, Countess Teresa Keglevich. The widow was\nnot interested in taking care of the \u010cachtice manor, too far from the centre of the Drugeth\nfamily domain, and began to gradually sell it or pledge it to third parties.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The shares disposed of by Teresa Keglevich were bought up by, among other nobles, Count\nPaul Forg\u00e1ch, Sr., who inherited part of the Drugeth estate from his mother and Zigmund\nDrugeth\u2019s sister, Countess Krisztina Drugeth. In 1710, Forg\u00e1ch eventually also acquired the\nDra\u0161kovi\u010d share of the manor with the manor house from Keglevich, in exchange for the\nForg\u00e1ch shares in Drugeth assets in Zempl\u00edn and Uh County. After taking over the Manor\nHouse of Dra\u0161kovi\u010d, he moved to the building and set up a private chapel in it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Paul Forg\u00e1ch, Sr. extended the manor house by adding a northwest two-storey wing.\nAccording to the files of the restoration of the manor house in the 1950s, there was a chapel\nin this wing but today it cannot be further located. It is believed that in 1715, Paul Forg\u00e1ch,\nSr. installed a statue of the Virgin Mary in the niche of the southern facade, covering the\nolder painted sundial. It is not certain whether he was the builder of the vast southwest wing\n(now doomed), captured on the 19th century maps.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After the death of his wife, Baroness Emerence R\u00e9vay, Paul Forg\u00e1ch, Sr. became a member\nof clergy. On 28 April 1721, as the titular episcopus rosoniensis and the Irenaeus provost, he\ndivided all the estates among his sons: Count Paul Forg\u00e1ch, Jr., Count Ladislav Forg\u00e1ch and\nCount Jozef Forg\u00e1ch. In the case of \u010cachtice, he appointed all his sons as heirs who were to\ntake care of the estate together and only share its revenues. Of the three sons, only Ladislav\nand Jozef Forg\u00e1ch became owners of the manor house because Paul Forg\u00e1ch, Jr. decided for\na religious career. On 15 November 1734, the siblings Ladislav and Jozef met in front of the\nMonastery in Hronsk\u00fd Be\u0148adik to sign a mutual exchange agreement. Since Ladislav planned\nto settle in \u010cachtice, Jozef gave up his entire share in \u010cachtice manor in favour of Ladislav\nand Ladislav gave him the village of Babindol in Nitra County in return.

Although Ladislav Forg\u00e1ch, a Counselor of the Royal Governor\u00b4s Council, had fifteen children\nwith four wives, only five of them lived to adulthood. Thanks to his more extensive heritage,\nthe manor house in \u010cachtice only got into the hands of the youngest son from his fourth\nmarriage, Count Nikola Forg\u00e1ch. He favorably married Baroness Jozefa Rudny\u00e1nszky. After\nthe wedding, the couple settled in \u010cachtice, but their union remained childless. After the\ndeath of the Baroness, Nikola did not marry again, which is why he declared his niece,\nCountess M\u00e1ria Forg\u00e1ch, as a universal heiress. At the time of acquiring the manor house in\n1850, M\u00e1ria Forg\u00e1ch lived with her husband, Count Zigmund Forg\u00e1ch, in the territory of the\nAbov County in the manor house in Slanica or the municipal palace in Ko\u0161ice. The distance\nbetween the territory and the Manor House in \u010cachtice led to the sale of the manor house,\nwhich, according to the county monograph, took place in 1852.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From the preserved historical sources, this year could not be verified, but it was possible to\ncomplete the data on sellers and buyers. When selling the property, M\u00e1ria was represented\nby her brother, Count Karol Forg\u00e1ch, and Michal Czenkay acquired the property. After his\ndeath, his heirs, who were listed in the land register of \u010cachtice in 1863, 1868 and 1880,\nbecame the owners. According to the file of the village of \u010cachtice, Michal's widow, Ter\u00e9zia\nBor\u00f3czy, acted as the administrator of the property and represented Michal\u2019s minor children for some time. After reaching adulthood, Michal's sons \u2013 Gejza Czenkay, Ladislav Czenkay\nand Adolf Czenkay \u2013 took ownership.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the 19th and early 20th century, the manor house served as a dosshouse for poor population, which had fatal effects on its condition. Under the former regime, the building\nunderwent major reconstruction. Two wings built by the Forg\u00e1ch family were removed, and\nthe altar stone, which was left in the former chapel, is mounted in the wall under the gate on\nthe left. In the 1960s, a museum was established there. The manor house is now one of the\nbranches of the Museum of Tren\u010d\u00edn.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
