The unique historical monument under the legendary castle will be completely reconstructed
For the restoration of the Draškovič Manor House in Čachtice, Trenčín Region will use, in addition to its own resources, funds from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2014-2021 and the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
The project of the reconstruction of the renaissance manor house was one of 19 successful projects out of a total of 66 grant applications submitted. "The preparation of the project took several years. I am glad that we managed to succeed and part of the reconstruction of the manor house can be financed from the EEA Financial Mechanism. The total renovation, including new exhibitions and the establishment of a café, will cost approximately 2.8 million EUR. Of this amount, 800 thousand EUR will be used from the grant mentioned above. For example, a tourist information center will be created here, which will help the development of tourism in Čachtice and its surroundings," said the Chairman of the Trenčín Region Jaroslav Baška.
The new exhibitions will complement the permanent inventory of the museum and will be located in the entire manor area, including the basement. "The expositions will focus on Elizabeth Báthory, the winery in Čachtice, the Tatrín association, and period housing in the manor houses. We want to use part of the premises for lectures, weddings, or social events," added Peter Martinisko, director of the Trenčín Museum, a project partner. In addition to the services of the tourist information center and new exhibitions, a cultural and creative center will be built on the premises of the Draškovič Manor House, focused on museum-pedagogical activities and cultural events or professional activities, as well as a café for visitors and tourists. The comprehensive restoration of the manor house should be completed by 30 April 2024.
