How will the renovated Manor House of Draškovič look like?
A unique historical monument right below the castle of Elizabeth Báthory emblazoned with legends will receive a new coat of paint. There will be a tourist information office but also a café and an extended exposition.
The Renaissance Manor House was built by the Croatian nobleman Nikola Draškovič in 1668. By marrying Barbora Drugeth, the granddaughter of Elizabeth, also known as the Bloody Countess or the Lady of Čachtice, he acquired the surrounding lands. Today, even though the manor house is one of the dominants of the village, its appearance is far from spectacular.
Thanks to the project Revitalization of the Manor House of Draškovič in Čachtice, this cultural monument will undergo a comprehensive reconstruction. "The manor house will serve as a centre of cultural and community life, as well as a place for recreation. Visitors will also be able to make use of services of the new information office," said the historian Martin Vincurský. The renovation will be carried out with the support of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the state budget of the Slovak Republic. "The Self-Governing Region of Trenčín has been monitoring these grant schemes for a long time and has been looking for possibilities of using them. Therefore, I am pleased that the Self-Governing Region was successful in this case for the first time ever as an applicant," said Jaroslav Baška, the President of the Self-Governing Region of Trenčín. He also added that the project is in the process of public procurement for construction works.
The grant amount is 800 000 € and more than 1.3 million € will be paid from the budget of the Self-Governing Region of Trenčín.
